Week four was a critical week for our project. It was the part of our project where we compiled all of the data from several databases such as NBI, Open Data Philly, PennDot, and DVRPC.
Before we could organize the data we had to retrieve it. Here is what the NBI data looked like before we transferred it to a spreadsheet. Once in the spread sheet, we were able to narrow all 25,000 bridges in Pennsylvania down to the 67 historical bridges in the city of Philadelphia.
After completing similar searches and compiling more data, we created an easy to navigate and interpret spreadsheet with all the data we will need.
In this data base, we included the aspects of the bridges we felt were most critical when evaluating a bridge, and the basic information for each. Some of the components we included were ID number, Latitude and Longitude, year built, ownership, maintenance responsibility, and the sufficiency rating. Using this spreadsheet, our next was to generate a map that clearly displayed all of these criterion.
